It was the second consecutive year Australia have pulled off a last minute victory in the Sydney Test. A new look attack helped them to a consolation win within five minutes on the final day that left the series 2 - 1.
Chasing a stiff target of 376 runs, South Africa made 272. The tottering Proteas batting order failed to show resistance as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
